The Captain David Philips Chapter of the National Society Daughtes of the American Revolution was nationally chartered on October 13, 1972. The charter was named for David Philips who served as Captain of Company Two, Seventh Batallion, Pennsylvania Militia.

Located in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas, our chapter is a diverse group of women of varying ages and backgrounds. The commond bonds shared among our members, are having ancestors who served as patriots in the American Revolutionary War, along with the desire to preserve our history and educate our youth. Our members are active locally and regionally, working together to carry out the objectives of the DAR.

Forty-four years of promoting the National Motto of "God, Home & Country".

Under the leadership of Regent Barabara Cockrum, we currently have 46 members, along with several perspective members working on their applications. The Captain David Philips Chapter, is one of approximately 200 chapters located within the state of Texas.
