Grave Marking Ceremony

Historic Preservation

The chapters involvement in preserving things of historical significance has encompassed a wide variety of projects. In addition to supporting state projects, such as the erection of an obelisk on Cenotaph Hill, at the State Cemetery in Austin, honoring Revolutionary War Patriots buried in Texas, the chapter also places historical markers on the graves of Revolutionary Patriots, Daughters with National Society approval in good standing, and real Daughters buried around the country.

Historic Preservation Medal

American Heritage

Encouraging the preservation, appreciation, and promotion for the future of our rich American heritage in arts, crafts, drama, literature, and music is the purpose of this committee. It is the one committee in DAR which promotes the members' artistic talents.

Bible Records

Genealogical Records

As a result of the work of DAR members, the DAR Library has assembled a tremendous amount of material not available anywhere else in the world. To better search this remarkable collection, DAR volunteers are currently working on creating a master index of the collection.

Members of our chapter contributed family record pages from their bibles to be bound and placed in the DAR Library Genealogical Records Collection.

Lineage Research

Lineage Research

In 1961, the National Society realized it was important to assist potential members with free genealogical services when they needed help completing their application papers.

In addition, chapter members assist individuals with genealogy services online and in person.

President General's Project

Since 1983, each President General has chosen a particular project which is then approved by the Continental Congress. President General VanBuren's project is the restoration of and improvements to our national headquarters at 1776 D Street NW, in Washington, DC. The headquarters is listed as a National Historic Landmark.

The Betty Martin Chapter, NSDAR, fully supports the worthwhile projects of the National Society undertaken by each administration.
