Our Chapter Name

icon The Three Missions Chapter takes its name from three Spanish missions in the area which were in use, then abandoned prior to 1755. The chapter members found it unique to discover the amount of history going on within Texas both before and during the American Revolution. So often Texas history seems to start with the events leading up to the Battle of the Alamo, but there is much more history dating back much further than 1836.

icon We have included brief histories of each of the three missions on this site. While no photographs or drawings remain of those missions, archaeological digs have given us some idea of their size and layout. The missions are all marked with Texas Historical Markers and a map along with photographs of the areas has also been provided. Click on the name of any mission to read about it:
