The range of activities available through membership in the DAR allows our members to participate at a level they are comfortable with and also in areas where they are truly interested. While many have strong genealogical interests, others are more interested in crafts, education, the state of the United States, and history. The DAR gives many members the opportunity to participate and contribute in a broad range of activities. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution web site shows a few of the areas that the DAR offers for members to participate in, falling into three main categories: Historic Preservation, Promotion of Education, and Patriotic Endeavor.  While small in size and young in age, the Three Missions Chapter of the NSDAR is very active in the local communities of Central Texas. Members participate in local genealogical organizations, literacy programs, education in public schools, and other volunteer programs. There is an active interest in history and heritage, citizenship, research and public service. Members volunteer their time in senior citizen programs, library programs, computer education and public schools on the elementary, junior high, and high school levels.  In recent years, the Three Missions Chapter has donated books and magazine subscriptions to local libraries, collected Campbell's Soup labels for the DAR sponsored schools, and made donations to the NSDAR Library fund and Junior Membership scholarships. The chapter has been named to both the national Honor Roll and a winner of the Achievement Award. One member won the national award in American Heritage in her category! The point is that each member finds her own level of interest and participation in the three main categories of Historic Preservation, Promotion of Education, and Patriotic Endeavor that is right for her.
