Elizabeth Denton English Chapter NSDAR

Message From Our Regent

Welcome!

The ladies of the Elizabeth Denton English Chapter NSDAR are so glad you are here.

The Elizabeth Denton English Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education.

I hope the information you find here will help you to move forward with your DAR membership. We are "Today's DAR" members and proud descendants of courageous men and women who aided in the fight for American independence. Our ladies are talented and enthusiastic believers in the patriotic, historic and educational ideals embodied in the DAR motto: "God, Home, and Country." We are a diverse group ranging in all ages, backgrounds, and careers. Some are retired while others work and have young families. Yet, each of us commits our available time to participate in activities that help us move toward making our chapter exceptional, productive, and relevant in our communities.

Our chapter is not considered large, but with over 75 members, we are active participants in following the mission statement of DAR. In the words of Eugenia Washington, a DAR founder, "We want a Society founded on service." Over the years, we have won numerous National and State awards.

The Historic Preservation Committee has been restoring and preserving the Honeymoon Cottage in Quitman, Texas, which was awarded first place in Texas State for Historic Preservation and second place by the National Society. The Cottage has been restored by the teamwork of our members using their creative talents, available time, and donated items to create a charming cottage that is now open for the public to visit and enjoy.

Take a look around to learn more about NSDAR and our chapter. If there is anything we can help you with, please use the Contact Us link on any page. By joining DAR, you will be one of thousands of women across the country and overseas who proudly acknowledge their patriotic lineage. There is so much to learn about DAR and the exciting, rewarding ways you can honor your ancestors, do worthwhile service work in your communities, and have fun with women sharing a kindred spirit with you.

In DAR Friendship,
The Elizabeth Denton English Chapter Regent
