Getting Started

Although the DAR application process may seem overwhelming, it doesn't need to be. There are a number of helpful genealogy related websites that can make the process easier for you. Below is a list of online sources.

If you are a woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence, you are eligible to join the DAR. We ask that you provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death, as well as of the Revolutionary War service of your patriot ancestor. If you're not sure you have a patriot in your family tree, we can help you find one and guide you through the application process.
