DAR Membership
Any woman is eligible for membership
in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution who is not less
than eighteen years of age, and who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from a
man or woman who, with unfailing loyalty aided in achieving American
independence.
Documentation must be provided for
each statement of birth, marriage, and death, as well as the American
Revolutionary War service of her Patriot ancestor.
Accepted Revolutionary War Service, with some exceptions,
is for the period between 19 April 1775 (Battle of Lexington) and 26 November
1783 (withdrawal of British troops from New York) and includes:
- Signers of the Declaration of Independence
- Military Service
- Civil Service
- Patriotic Service
