Home Officers Patriots Activities TXDAR NSDAR Contact |
More than eight
decades have passed since the greatly loved Grace Burrows Taylor organized the
Rio Grande Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
(NSDAR or DAR) in McAllen on March 26, 1929. The name Rio Grande was selected
because the Big River which forms this valley is a living symbol of
the continuity and timelessness of history. Rio Grande Chapter, NSDAR offers many opportunities for service. We work with our youth through educational programs; encourage our members to be involved in their communities with historic preservation, and promote the preservation of our local histories. It provides the opportunity to meet new people with similar interests and to develop friendships with those who enjoy promoting the ideals of patriotism and love of country. We share the same passion in trying to make America a better place in which to live. Two neighboring chapters, DuBois-Hite in Brownsville, and Sam Maverick in Alamo, were organized by members of the Rio Grande Chapter, NSDAR. We are part of the Rio Grande Valley DAR Regents Council and share the hosting of a Flag Day celebration with other members of the council. We are working on building membership through interesting programs and community involvement and thus strengthening our beloved Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution (TXDAR) and NSDAR. |
