Our Chapter Name

The Ephriam Andrews Chapter, National Society Daughters of the Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) was named for the Revolutionary War ancestor of Barbara Althaus, the Organizing Regent. Ephraim Andrews was born February 4, 1720, in Prince George County, Virginia. He enlisted when he was 61 on April 24, 1781, as a private of cavalry in Colonel “Lighthorse” Harry Lee’s Virginia Legion. Faithfully serving to the end of the War, he was honorably discharged on November 15, 1783. He died in Hawkins County, Tennessee, in 1808, at the age of 88.

Become a Member

Membership in the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is open to all women eighteen years of age and older who can provide lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. Read more details on our Texas membership page.

As we look back at the accomplishments of our ancestors, we strive to continue their work by honoring our history, participating in the present, and having faith in our future. By doing these things, we hope to benefit our chapter as well as the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution through our dedication to God, Home, and Country.

The February Meeting is the George Washington Tea. The September meeting is the Constitution Week Luncheon and in June is the Flag Day Luncheon. We partner with the neighboring Major James Kerr Chapter in Kerrville so we are the host every other year for each of these events. We participate in the 4th of July parade and the Light the Night parade the first Friday night in December.

Chapter Activities

Donations of Constitution materials to teachers

In September, the Chapter presents Fredericksburg Middle School pocket constitutions; one for every eighth-grade student. At that time, the students are just beginning to study the Constitution in depth as part of their planned curriculum.
