Pocahontas Chapter NSDAR

Pocahontas Chapter was organized on February 22, 1910 by Maria Lewis Ions; her gravesite was marked by members on March 10, 1991. The chapter celebrated its one hundredth year in 2010 with presentations from state and local officials. The image of Pocahontas (seen above), used by the chapter, was drawn by member Eula Grantham.

The Texas Dawn hybrid lily was created by Ken Landon, director of the International Waterlily Collection at San Angelo, Texas. He, and his staff, presented this creation to the state for consideration as the state lily, and on July 17, 2011, the Texas Dawn hybrid became the official water lily of the state.
