Membership Do you have a Revolutionary patriot in your family tree? Membership in the DAR honors and preserves the legacy of your patriot ancestor. Proving your lineage can be fun and you will learn a great deal about your family and our nation’s history. Alexander Hodge Chapter welcomes potential new members. Regular meetings take place on the third Tuesday of each month from September through May. Please contact us for an invitation to visit one of our chapter meetings. By attending a meeting, you will meet members who have the experience to assist you in obtaining your goal of membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). More information on membership requirements is available on the National Society website. We welcome membership inquiries from any woman 18 years of age and older who believes she may be a descendant of an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. Who Can Join? Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, or ancestors who contributed to the independence cause via donations of goods or support, is eligible for membership. Application Process You will need to provide proof of vital links for each generation, starting with yourself then going back lineally to your patriot. Our chapter registrar can help explain the types of documentation required. Look at the NSDAR genealogy page for helpful suggestions on how to begin. |
