OLD CHISHOLM TRAIL CHAPTER,
NSDAR Historic Preservation-Patriotism-Education
Old Chisholm Trail Chapter NSDAR has been active
for over 40 years. It was organized April 16, 1977, by Twila Bell Gauntt,
organizing regent. Chapter members perpetuate the memory of the men and women
who achieved independence for America by emphasizing patriotism and respect for
The flag of the United States of America, by encouraging responsible
citizenship, and by documenting family history through lineage research.
Revolutionary ancestors of chapter members are
honored at an annual luncheon. Chapter activities include participation in flag
presentation, ROTC awards, Patriotism medals, and DAR Good Citizen awards.
Decorating the Millermore Mansion at Old City Park in Dallas is an annual
Christmas project. Other members serve their communities as volunteers in a
variety of other areas.
Chapter members are very active in TXDAR and
NSDAR, holding both office and committee positions. They attend the annual
TXDAR Fall Forum, TXDAR State Conference, and NSDAR Continental Congress.
Junior members are encouraged to participate as pages at State Conference and
Continental Congress and serve as chapter officers and committee chairmen.
The chapter awards one scholarship annually. The
Memorial Fund Scholarship, established in 1996, is available for children or
grandchildren of chapter members.
Three Forks of the Trinity Chapter Society of
the Children of the American Revolution was organized under the sponsorship of
this chapter on February 10, 1979, and reactivated January 30, 1995.
