Come and Take It Chapter,
NSDAR
OUR ACTIVITIES
Our chapter participates in a
variety of activities year-round. Some of the social activities include the
Constitution Week Luncheon and Presidents Day Luncheon, hosted with the
two other DAR chapters in Bryan/College Station. We also perform many service
activities, both in and out of the chapter. Some of these include taking a meal
or baked goods to police officers or firefighters, collecting money for a
program at one of the DAR schools, helping the Red Cross spread fire safety
information, and honoring outstanding students who exemplify the core values of
DAR.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
The chapter has taken on many
projects, including the Rosie the Riveter Project, where Come and Take It
Chapter, NSDAR joined with the other two local chapters and the Brazos Valley
Veterans Memorial to raise money to build a statue of Rosie the Riveter within
the memorial site at Veterans Park. The dedication of the statue took place on
December 7, 2017, the 76th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the
fourth anniversary of our chapter's organization. Our report on the Rosie the
Riveter project took 1st Place, South Central Division Outstanding
Miscellaneous Report for 2017 at our national conference in June 2018.
