Captain Thomas Moore Chapter, NSDAR, San Marcos, TX

The Captain Thomas Moore Chapter was organized May 2, 1923, in San Marcos, Texas, by Mrs. Renick Frazier Ansell. The chapter was named for Mrs. Ansell's ancestor.

Captain Thomas Moore was born in 1755, and died in 1835. His wife was Mary Elizabeth Harberson. Thomas was the son of Simeon Moore, who emigrated from South Carolina to Mercer County, Kentucky, in 1776, with Daniel Boone's colonists. Thomas and his father were with General George Clark in the Northwest Campaign. Simeon, his father, received two grants from Virginia for 2,000 acres of land, which Thomas and his brother John later inherited. Thomas Moore served as a Captain in the Virginia Militia in the War of the American Revolution.
