Thankful Hubbard History

Mrs. Florence Anderson Clark: Thankful Hubbard Chapter, Organizer

Thankful Hubbard Chapter was named for the great-grandmother of Florence Anderson Clark, organizer of our chapter in 1899. Mrs. Clark was the first State Regent of the Texas Society, and our chapter was one of the original five chapters to form the state society. Mrs. Clark was honored in the late 1990s by TSDAR’s placement of a marker at her gravesite in Oakwood Cemetery.

Our organizing regent, Frances Hobart Evans served as Vice President General of NSDAR, the first National Society officer from a Texas chapter. With these honored daughters in our forefront, we are blessed to serve the Society as Daughters. Thankful Hubbard Chapter’s first organizational meeting was held in 1898 in the home of Mrs. Ira Evans, our organizing regent.

We honor our past with educational programs, participation in State and National Society projects, and taking part in local patriotic events. We honor our future with our sponsorship of Nathaniel Maxwell Society, C.A.R., with our annual scholarship to an Austin high school student, and with our involvement in several area JROTC and ROTC programs.
