Richard Bard News!

Here are some of the activities Richard Bard members do year after year to help the community and to encourage patriotism in our schools.

Our chapter has always been quite active in collecting clothes and labels for the DAR Schools and the local Veterans' Hospital. Our members have given many books to both the local and national libraries. We have several members who are active in the Correspondent Docent Program showing presentations at local schools, community centers, and other historic organizations. The chapter distributes Flags of the USA and Flag material to schools, libraries, and other groups in our area when the occasion arrives.

Each September, Officers and members attend Fall Forum to order supplies and attend workshops to help the chapter reach the goals set by the National and State Societies.

Each February, the Richard Bard Chapter holds an annual George Washington Tea to honor the Chapter's New Members, Community Service Winner, DAR Good Citizens, History Essay winners, and the Chapter's Outstanding Junior Member.

In the Spring, Chapter Members participate in the City of Mesquite Rodeo Parade and award ROTC medals to four local High Schools.
