Awards, Activities and Accomplishments
The Richard Bard Chapter has been honored with a number of awards over the
years and has presented DAR awards to a number of individuals in our community.
These include the following:
1 DAR Medal of Honor
1 DAR History Award Medal
2 Conservation Awards
9 DAR Community Service Awards
DAR Good Citizen Medals (Mesquite, West Mesquite, Poteet, North Mesquite, Seagoville, Dr. John Horn High Schools, Dallas Christian and Dallas Baptist Academy).
Good Citizenship Medal (J. R. Thompson Elementary School)
Junior ROTC Medals (West Mesquite, Poteet, Seagoville, and Dr. John Horn High Schools)
Junior Choice Chapter (1995, 1997, 2003)
American History Essay Contest, Grades 7 & 8 (Kimbrough Middle School)
The Chapter Newsletter won first place in State and first place in National (2002). Thank you, Newsletter Chairman Joyce Phillips!
We are very proud of our Juniors! Our Juniors have had a very exciting year and were honored numerous times at State Conference in 2003. Here are some of their recent accomplishments and activities!
Leah Donnahoe was named 2003 Texas State Outstanding Junior at the 104th State Conference in March 2003!
Leah Donnahoe held the Texas Flag at Continental Congress while the State Regent, Al'Louise Ramp, gave her report.
Richard Bard was named the 2003 Junior's Choice Chapter at the Texas State Conference. We are the first chapter to win this award three times!
Leah Donnahoe was named Outstanding Junior Runner Up at the 103rd State Conference
Two Junior members paged at the 103rd Texas State Conference (2002)
One Junior paged for the first time at the 111th Continental Congress in Washington, DC (2002)
4 Pages represented the Chapter at the 100th State Conference in Dallas (1999)
Chapter Junior Bazaar for the past year raised more than $300.00 for the Helen Pouch Memorial Fund
