Our Area
Mineral Wells is located in the Millsap Valley in the beautiful North
Texas Hill Country. It is surrounded by the Pinto
Hills and flanked to the west by the Brazos River.
Mineral Wells has a glourious history, a town
founded on the mineral-rich soil formed in the
Pennsylvanian Period. Because of these mineral
deposits, Mineral Wells was first famous for its
curative waters. The mineral deposits enabled the
production of petroleum products as wells as bricks
and other ceramics.
Mineral Wells was the home of the renowned F-Troop,
made famous in World War II for its excellence in
service in Burma. Mineral Wells was also home of
Fort Wolters, first an Army induction center in
World War II, and later the primary helicopter Army
base during the Vietnam War. Today the
National Vietnam War Museum is located in
Mineral Wells.
There are many other attractions in Mineral Wells
today including
Lake Mineral Wells State Park and Trailway, Mineral Wells Fossil Park,
Clark Garden
Botanical Park, Double H Hacienda and Art Ranch,
Famous Mineral Water Company, and Little Rock
Schoolhouse Museum, the first public school in
Mineral Wells.
