Activities

   
   

Below are some of the things our Chapter does for the community and our country:

  • Awards a $750 Good Citizen scholarship annually—some of the funds are raised by our annual Bakeless Bake Sale and annual Silent Auction
  • Awards a JROTC medal annually
  • Collects candy each fall for donation to Operation Gratitude
  • Collects coupons for use by military families
  • Collects personal care items for use by patients at the Dallas VA Hospital
  • Collects Box Tops for Education to contribute to DAR sponsored schools (KDS DAR School, Tamassee DAR School, Crossnore School, Hillside School, Hindman Settlement School, Bacone College, Chemawa Indian School)
  • Places flags on veterans' graves for Memorial Day and Veterans Day
  • Is an active member of the DARC (Dallas Area Regents Council)
  • Sponsors a C.A.R. (Children of the American Revolution) society
  • Obtains proclamations annually from designated local municipalities marking Constitution Week
  • Donates annually a subscription for American Spirit magazine to the Carrollton Library Genealogy Room
  • Makes annual monetary donations to the Fisher House and to the C.A.R. Isaac Freese Society
  • Contributes to the following National DAR funds:
    • Historic Programs and Funds 
      "…by the acquisition and protection of historical spots and the erection of monuments, by the encouragement of historical research in relation to the Revolution and the publication of its results; by the preservation of documents and relics, and of the records of the individual services of Revolutionary soldiers and patriots; and by the promotion of celebrations of all patriotic anniversaries…"
    • Educational Programs and Funds 
      "…To carry out the injunction of Washington in his farewell address to the American people, ‘to promote, as an object of primary importance, institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge’ thus developing an enlightened public opinion, and affording to young and old such advantages as shall develop in them the largest capacity for performing the duties of American citizens…"
    • Patriotic Programs and Funds 
      "…To cherish, maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom; to foster true patriotism and love of country, and to aid in the securing for mankind all the blessings of liberty…"
