La Villita Chapter Information:
|
HistoryLa Villita Chapter was organized December 4, 1944, with Mrs. S. W. Bilsing as Organizing Regent. Nancy Reynolds Tiner, young daughter of a founding member, suggested the name La Villita to the organizing members because the phrase meant "Little City" and was the name of the first permanent Spanish settlement in San Antonio. Incorporated in 1939, College Station was indeed a little city, so the name La Villita was adopted. The chapter celebrated its 60th birthday in December, 2004, in the same home where it was chartered. The historic site is now the home of Dr. Tammy Tiner Harding, granddaughter of founding member Mrs. E. B. Reynolds and a third-generation DAR member. Charter Members
