 Jan 2008 - Members of the General Levi Casey Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Pattie Westerlage, former Regent (left), and Mrs. Paul White, Recording Secretary (right), present a check for $20,000 to Lloyd Dewitt Bockstruck (center), Supervisor of the Genealogy Section of the J. Erik Jonsson Center Library. The donation was made in the continuing effort to expand the collections in the Edith Allen Palmer Microfilm area of the Library. Palmer was a member of the Chapter from 1973 until her death in 1986.

 

 

 

 Feb 2007, Historian Frances Moore presented the American History Award to an 8th grader at St. Mary's of Mt. Carmel School, who read his winning essay, "Along the Trail with Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery."

Dee Santini, Principal of St. Mary's of Mt. Carmel, is presented certificate and flag by Chapter 1st Vice Regent, Doris Johnston. Four St. Mary's Good Citizen Award Recipients were recognized at our February 2008 Chapter meeting.

 We supported our troops by contributing to the USO at DFW Airport, in honor of the 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, TX

Contributing to America's War Wounded: War on Terrorism, "Salute America's Heroes" headed by General Tommy Franks

The General Levi Casey Chapter annually participates in these national contests recognizing the efforts of the youth and citizens in our community.

 

DAR Good Citizens
This contest is open to senior students of public and private high schools. Schools are invited and sponsored by individual chapters to participate in this program. Link to the official DAR web site for more information.

The American History Essay Contest
This contest is open to students in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 attending public, private and sanctioned home school programs. There is an assigned topic each year. Certificates and medals are awarded accordingly. Schools are invited and sponsored by individual chapters to participate in this program. For more information e-mail the Regent.

 Outstanding work in American History
Certificates are awarded to students in grades K-12 who demonstrate exceptional work in and enthusiasm for American history. Nominations are accepted from classroom teachers. Schools are invited and sponsored by individual chapters to participate in this program. For more information e-mail the Regent.

 Junior American Citizens

 DAR Patriotism Medal
This medal is given to students in grades 5 through 11 who fulfill the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism. Students may attend accredited or non-accredited public, private, or parochial schools. Schools are invited and sponsored by individual chapters to participate in this program.  ROTC Medals
Medals and campaign bars are awarded to student cadets of outstanding ability and achievement in secondary school, junior college, college or university ROTC programs of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and the Naval Sea Cadet Units. Selection of the students to receive the DAR ROTC awards is made by professors of military science and the principal or head of the schools. Community Service Award
This award recognizes worthy residents for outstanding achievement in cultural, educational, humanitarian, patriotic and citizenship endeavor, and historical or environmental conservation. The recipient should have contributed to his/her community in a praiseworthy manner through civic and benevolent activities or acts of heroism. Individuals are invited and sponsored by individual chapters to participate in this program. For more information e-mail the Regent.
