 Chapter Activities

New chapter officers were installed in May by
Division Chairman Shirley Smith.

Members attended the dedication of the Texas
Revolutionary War Monument held in Austin.

Chapter member Eva Spurlin, now deceased, was
responsible for Wood County receiving one of the
Stephen F. Austin tree saplings.  In March 2009,
the sapling was rededicated and planted at
the site of the new Mineola Library.

Talent and research showed when Suzanne Fife brought
her rendition of Martha Washington to a chapter meeting.

We were honored when State Regent, Lynn Young,
attended our March meeting and presented her program
about women in the Revolutionary War.

Hostess members provided decorations complete
with a Presidential cake for February meeting.

Members are wearing our DAR shirts and DAR
visors at the 2009 Mineola Nature Fest.

Chapter officers place flags on veterans' graves
at Hopewell Cemetery in Winnsboro, Texas.

Members presented a check to Eva Spurlin's husband,
in her memory, to purchase a personal microphone for
 the Select Theater in Mineola.

The Mineola VFW Post and its members collect pull tabs
to present to our chapter to help Ronald McDonald House
charities.

Our 2008 Veterans Day float won 2nd place.

Our chapter presented a HODAR (Husband of a DAR) certificate at the Christmas party.

Charter member, Bessie Rae Wilson, and her
husband Waymon, recently celebrated their 70th
wedding anniversary at a reception for relatives and friends.
