LTC Megellas is the most decorated officer in the history of the 82nd Airborne Division having been awarded more than 25 medals for his WWII Service including: the Distinguished Service Cross; two Silver Stars; two Bronze Stars; and two Purple Hearts. LTC Megellas is the 2010 TSDAR Medal of Honor recipient, and will be awarded the NSDAR Medal of Honor at Continental Congress in July, 2010. He is also a Congressional Medal of Honor nominee for acts of valor during the Battle of the Bulge.
