We have several fundraising and volunteer activities
every year.
- Education Promotion
- A scholarship is awarded to a graduating LISD
student each year. This scholarship was established in
the first year of the life of this Chapter. Members earn
funds for the scholarship through fund-raising
activities.
- Awards are made each spring to an outstanding ROTC
student at high schools in the school district.
- An award and gift card is given each year to the
winner of the American History Essay Contest. This
contest is for students in grades 5-8 in public,
private, or home schools.
- Historical Preservation
- Members of the chapter provide genealogical
research assistance. Lineage workshops are held
periodically.
- Our members encourage participation in local
Memorial Day observances, Veterans’ Day activities,
and Constitution Week ceremonies.
- American veterans are honored each year in
November at a Colonial Dinner hosted by chapter
members.
- Patriotic Endeavor
- Community Service Awards are given by the
chapter to outstanding citizens in the community
in recognition of service rendered by
individuals.
- The chapter supports veteran's
hospital
programs through contributions of clothing,
books, toiletries, phone cards, games, and other
items. We also support a “Back to Work Program”
for homeless veterans.
- Patriotic literature is distributed at
public events, libraries, and schools. Flag Code
information is available through the chapter,
and assistance is offered to those seeking
American citizenship. Constitution Week is observed Sept. 17-23.
