American History Essay Contest
The American History Committee was created to promote American history
by honoring significant historical people, places, dates, and
events. Each year the committee sponsors an essay contest for 5th,
6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
Winners from all the schools are recognized at a
special chapter meeting in March. An overall winner is chosen from
each grade level, and these winners move to state-level competition.
DAR Good
Citizens
The DAR Good Citizens program and scholarship contest is
intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.
The program is open to all senior class students enrolled in
accredited public or private secondary schools which are in good
standing with their state boards of education.
Each year the chapter recognizes DAR Good Citizens
chosen from three area high schools. The winners from all the
schools are honored at a special chapter meeting where they are
presented with a monetary award.
