Colonel George Moffett Chapter, NSDAR

Colonel George Moffett was an ancestor of the organizing Regent, Mrs. Benjamin Rush Norvell. Colonel Moffett was born in Virginia in 1735 and died at his home, Mount Pleasant, in Augusta County, Virginia. He served in the Indian wars and fought at Kerr's Creek. During the Revolution he participated in the battles of the Cowpens, Kings Mountain, and at Guilford Court House. He was a Justice of the Peace, a member of the military court and a firm believer in religious freedom.

The Colonel George Moffett Chapter was organized on February 8, 1906, with the charter granted on March 15, 1906, charter #700.
