About Our Chapter Ann Poage Chapter was organized on April 13, 1940, named for the ancestor of one of our founding members.

At this time, the chapter meets the second Saturday of October through May on Saturdays to provide the opportunity for professionals and others who work during the week including mothers to become members and to participate in DAR activities.

Regular Meetings are held October through May, with a tea to celebrate Presidents Day and honor our new members in February.  We also schedule a field trip once a year and host quarterly happy hours.  The Houston Area Regents Council hosts a Flag Day Luncheon in June and Constitution Day Luncheon in September.
Meetings begin with refreshments at 10 am and at 10:30 the actual meeting and presentations begin.

The chapter currently has over 110 members.

Ann Poage provides two scholarships annually. Our Memorial Scholarship is awarded to RN nursing students at the University of Texas School of Nursing and another is given to a university student of history who plans to teach. The latter scholarship is named after a deceased member of Ann Poage, Mary Smith Fay, who was a nationally recognized genealogist.
