Chapter Activities

The DAR objectives are the perpetuation of the memory of the men and women who achieved American Independence. This is done through the preservation of historic relics, locations, and records of individual service; the encouragement of research and publication of historic documents; the promotion of patriotism and love of country; and the support of educational facilities. The Andrew Carruthers Chapter, NSDAR, supports these goals through the following activities:

Historic Preservation
Conduct genealogical lineage research
Conduct a genealogical research workshop
Collect and publish Bible and other historic records
Volunteer at the Texas State Genealogical Library
Promote American Heritage through programs on American arts, crafts, literature and music

Patriotic Endeavor
Present an American flag for display at public schools.
Contribute to the VA Medical Center in Temple (our assigned district)
Place DAR Markers at the grave sites of DAR members
Observe patriotic anniversaries

Promotion of Education
Award Good Citizenship medals to students at several area schools
Award ROTC medals to students at Del Valle High School and Westwood High School in Round Rock
Contribute to all DAR schools
